B12 In Vegans

Tired and fatigued everyday? B12 may be the answer.

The B12 drama everywhere! Yes every vegan annndddd, most meat eaters still need a B12 supplement. “What? Meat eaters? I think you have it wrong there, miss nutritionist….”

Nope I certainly do not. Mindblown? I know. Most people not on a supplement have low B12 levels.

B12 originally is found in bacteria in soil. Or unsanitized water. But due to all the pesticides, and all the chemical laced crap we put in our water and produce, we now have to be overly clean all our water and produce. So the B12 isn’t found is in high amounts to sustain our body’s B12 needs. Or the B12 bacteria is just killed in general.

And how meat eaters were originally consuming B12 was because the animal’s we kill for meat were eating the grass/ soil soaked foods. Then we were eating the animal high in B12.

But due the depletion of minerals in our soil/produce/feed nowadays, the animals aren’t even getting their amount of B12 needed.

So how do some meat eaters get B12? Well, well, the meat industry caught onto this depletion and started covering their butts by giving the animals “Animal feed with added B12”. Even animal’s that wouldn’t usually eat grass are now getting high amounts of B12 orrrrr… They are injected with B12. Yes, even animals are getting B12 shots. But, not every industry can afford this. So that’s why meat eaters should also be on a B12 supplement to cover their bases, as they may not be buying the pre-packaged dead animal “with added B12”.

So meat eaters have the argument that vegans/vegetarians aren’t getting their vitamin B12 intake. And the only way is to eat meat for the “natural source”. As the animal agriculture industry likes to pick apart any nutrients that are found in meat that aren’t found in a plant based diet. But animals getting a B12 shot isn’t exactly “natural”. So scraping the barrel there.

So my question is, why eat meat for our B12 intake, if that’s the only argument you’ve got to us “needing to consume animals”. Instead of ….

Cow being supplemented with B12 —-> Killing cow to consume “natural nutrient B12” ——> consuming animal for B12.

Why don’t we…

Have a B12 supplement —-> consume B12 supplement

Cut out one whole step, cut out the middle man. No killing would have to be done, and you would actually absorb a better amount of B12 as… the animal may not have had a B12 supp, or, getting the B12 vitamin straight from a B12 source would mean you would get a larger amount.

Before I went vegan no one even mentioned or gave a hoot about their B12 levels. So if anything I became more aware, and focused on getting all my nutrients.

If you’re a vegan/ vegetarian/ meat eater, and you’re feeling tired and fatigued. You may want to go get your B12 checked with a blood test. ASAP.

So how can we get B12?

  • We can take a Methyl B12 (always methyl not Cyanobalamin) supplement, take one little tablet a day.

  • Sublingual Methyl B12 if you can’t swallow tablets. You spray this flavoured spray under your tongue, everyday.

  • We can eat foods with added B12, most vegan milks, butter, mock meats, nutritional yeast (nooch), vegemite, marmite, etc nowadays have added B12.

  • You can get a B12 injection every month (but this depends on the person, it could be longer)

  • Eat organic produce with the skin on. Organic produce is shown to have higher amounts of B12 due to the soil having no pesticides, and the produce hasn’t been as messed with.

My favourite B12 tablets as you don’t have to swallow, they just absorb under your tongue and taste good: -
